The country's government believes that restricting traffic at another checkpoint will tighten sanctions against Russia.

Estonia will limit the operation of another checkpoint with Russia. After the operation of the Narva crossing was limited, the government of the country planned to close the Koidula border crossing at night. ERR reported this on Sunday, April 28.

It is noted that recently there has been a decrease in night border traffic at this crossing.

This is also expected to help save money.

“We are now talking about closing the Koidula border checkpoint at night, in addition to closing Narva at night,” said Finance Minister Mart Virklaev.

However, the local municipality of Setomaa has already expressed concerns that the new restrictions will reduce tax revenues due to the impossibility of workers coming from Russia.
