The flow of Ukrainian refugees to Latvia has decreased significantly compared to 2023. In four months of 2024, 6,457 Ukrainian citizens arrived in the country, and last year, during the same period, 40,496 Ukrainians entered the country.

This was reported on the website of the Latvian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

At the same time, Latvia does not rule out an increase in the flow of refugees depending on the situation in Ukraine.

According to the Latvian Ministry of Internal Affairs, in the first four months of 2024, 6,457 Ukrainian citizens entered Latvia across the external border (an average of 1,614 per month). This is 16% of the number of arrivals for the same period in 2023, when 40,496 Ukrainian citizens entered the country.

In 2024, an average of 476 Ukrainian citizens will be re-registered in the Register of Individuals per month. In total, 9,445 people were re-registered in 2023.

Currently, there were 44,961 Ukrainians with temporary protection in the register: 61% women, 39% men.

Officials do not rule out that due to the current situation at the front, Ukrainian civilians will continue to immigrate, so the flow of refugees in Latvia may increase again.
