Tony Radakin, Britain's Chief of the Defence Staff, said he was absolutely confident Ukraine would win the war.

Admiral Radakin, known for his optimistic viewpoint, insists that Russia is “failing” in Ukraine, even despite a new Russian offensive in the Kharkiv region, where Russian troops have seized part of the territory due to Ukraine’s shortage of ammunition and personnel.

"Russia is making tactical progress on land," Radakin said.

"But then you have to backtrack a little bit. If you go back to March 2022, Russia had captured about 17% of Ukraine's territory. Today, it has 11%. So Russia is still in deficit," he added.

When asked if he was confident of Ukraine’s victory, Admiral Radakin replied that he was “very confident.”

"By the end of June, Russia will have lost 500,000 people – killed and wounded. We have already gone through 800 days of war, which, according to Putin's forecasts, will last three days. This is difficult for Ukraine, but we must maintain our support," the commander emphasized.

Admiral Radakin gave this interview before the United States and other allies publicly supported Ukraine in using Western weapons to strike military targets in Russia.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba confirmed that Ukraine had received permission from Western countries to use weapons supplied by them to strike Russia, and noted that Kyiv would seek to expand the scope of this permission.

The White House clarified that Ukraine is allowed to carry out attacks on the border territory of not only Kharkiv, but also Sumy Oblast. This permission does not apply to long-range ATACMS missiles.
