The start has been given. It's up to you!

Akim of the Karaganda region Serik Akhmetov on the last working day of last week launched a new production for the extraction and processing of coal at the Zhalyn deposit of the Saryarka Energy company. This is one of 18 industrial-innovative projects included in the Map of Industrialization of the country from the Karaganda region. This year it is planned to implement 10 of them.

The head of the region was brief in his address to those gathered at the ceremonial meeting.
The new production will make a significant contribution to the economy of the largest region of Kazakhstan. The project is a component of a large-scale program of accelerated industrial and innovative development of the country, developed on behalf of the head of our state, Nursultan Nazarbayev.

The implementation of the plans began in 2009. It was possible to reduce the timeframe and speed up the start of mining operations. According to the company, last year the open-pit mine produced 90 thousand tons of high-quality hard coal. Implemented
2,793 thousand sq. m of mining and stripping operations. Real tasks have been set: in 2010, to produce more than 500 thousand tons of coal, which in monetary terms is 2.2 billion tenge.

Next year, Saryarka Energy intends to double production rates.
Serik Akhmetov noted that the priority of the new field is obvious. The reserves of grade G (gas) coal are 50 million tons and will be enough for 25 years of development. Fuel of this quality has never been produced in our country before. Its calorific value is 1.5 times higher than that of Shubarkol coal, moreover, Zhalyn coal has a high yield of semi-coke.

Over the past year, capital investments amounted to more than 1.5 billion tenge, and in the current year – 2.7 billion tenge. A shift camp and a substation have already been erected at the open-pit mine, and a 32-km-long power line has been installed. A highway and a loading and unloading complex are being built. The first mobile coal sorting unit has been installed and is operating at the open-pit mine. The field employs 200 people, mostly residents of the nearby rural district named after. Eralieva. By the time it reaches full capacity, about 500 people will work here. The company intends to invest about $34 million in the construction and creation of production and social infrastructure.

Coal seams will be mined using modern technology using hydraulic excavators according to the deep seam mining scheme. It is planned that the company will be able to produce about 2 million tons of coal per year. Zhalyn coal is already being supplied to India, at the stage of signing an agreement with Poland.
