The leaders of the G7 countries said that Russian sovereign assets will remain frozen until Moscow pays “compensation” to Kiev, according to a statement they published.

“Russian sovereign assets in our jurisdictions will remain frozen until Russia pays for the damage it caused to Ukraine,” the document says.

It is noted that the leaders welcome the EU's legal steps to ensure the use of frozen assets in connection with relevant legislation.
G7 leaders also expressed their determination to “ensure full accountability” and support for Ukraine in obtaining compensation.

G7 ministers, ahead of the Puglia summit, have been tasked with providing updated information on possible ways to use frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine in accordance with European legal systems and international law.
