Ukrainian bombing has killed three people in separate attacks on Russian border regions and occupied Ukrainian territory, officials appointed by Russia and Moscow said Friday.

Ukrainian forces have in recent months stepped up deadly missile and drone attacks on Russia's border regions and also struck Russian energy infrastructure.

“The village of Korovyakovka came under fire from the Ukrainian side today,” the Russian governor of the Kursk region said on social networks.

“A local resident died,” he said.

Ukraine has carried out strikes on border regions in retaliation for Russian bombing of Ukrainian cities over the past two years.

A day after another attack in the border region of Bryansk, a woman died from her wounds, said Governor Alexander Bogomaz.

Moscow-based authorities in Ukraine's Luhansk region said Friday that one person was killed and two others were wounded as a result of Ukrainian shelling of the village of Novodruzhesk.

The Luhansk region has been partly controlled by Russian-backed forces since 2014, and the Kremlin claimed to have annexed it in late 2022.
